Rugby League High Tackles

If anyone has been following the tri-nations for the rugby league then you would surely be following the poor judgement made for the 1 match suspension of Vagana. If you don't follow rugby league or have not heard, a high tackle was made by Vagana which unfortunately caused Britians halfback Paul Deacon to require reconstructive surgery. He was in a life threatening condition at one point. For more on the story read http://foxsports.news.com.au/story/0,8659,17279391-23214,00.html

One match is surely not enough. Careless or not, the other player now can not play for an extended period due to Vagana's reckless tackle. My thoughts are that the person who commits the offence should NOT be allowed to play again until the injured player is available for his team again. This would put a major stop to careless tackles which are high. Vagana misses one match payment which Deacon has no idea when he will be able to play again thus missing countless match payments.

I hope the Judiciary thinks about the suspension they gave considering the uproar and hopefully they will keep this in mind when faced with similar situations.

Soccer - Turkey might get banned for 2010

Turkey is in trouble after Switzerland defender Stephane Grichting was reportedly taken to hospital after clashes in the tunnel.

The match ended with tempers flaring, and footage showed Switzerland player Benjamin Huggel kick a member of the Turkish coaching staff as he ran off the pitch. Then defender Alpay aimed a kick at Streller as the Swiss goalscorer went down the tunnel towards the dressing rooms, and the trouble erupted.

This could be big news in the enxt following days espcially if Turkey gets banned .... keep an eye on it.

Australia Demolishes West Indies

Australia has taken a firm grip on the second test against the West indies. A short time ago the WI team were only 130 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

Macgill had taken 3 quick wickets and was in sensational form.

While Austrlaia lost to the English in their last test series they are a compeletly different side at home. The Austrlaians have dominated the games and look like the will win every game this series.

England on the other hand has been simple BAD. They lost to Pakistan in the opening test when they really had controlled the majority of the game. The English appear to have lost the edge that gave them the wins against the Aussies.

Ahhh well anyone who took the short odds of 1.24 for the aussies as I did would be very happy right now.

Good Luck

HORSE RACING TIPS

These aren't great tips today but have a look at the following for some value.

Coffs Harbour Race 7 /3 SANDY SHORE
There are a lot of good horses in this race. I would only look at SANDY SHORE if the value was available. Next Best is UMDINGER.

Pinjarra Race 9/1 OLD GRUNDY
This horse has a chance in this race. He is only carrying 56Kg so I doubt it will hold him up to much.

Good Luck.

AUSTRALIA WINS

Australia is finally going to the world cup again after a sensational demonstration of goal keeping. Uraguay had their chances but in the end Australia scored the only goal in normal time to tie up the series 1-1. Both teams had their chances in extra time but it came down to the brilliant goal keeping skill of the Aussies to get them through. Australia won the Pentaly Shoot out 4-2.

It was good to see after the poor sportsmanship and bad attitudes of the Uraguyans. I am glad to see their "Divine right" did not come true.

Go Aussies ...

Horse Racing

Well I like to follow the horses and the dogs. I thought I might post some of those tips on here to keep track.

Today I took only 2 races

Ballarat Race 6
Home Sweet and Miss Dettori.
The Winner was Home Sweet at $2.40.

Ascot Race 3
The QuarterMaster and Hello Doctor
The Winner was "The Quartermaster" at $4.80

Total bets were $4 and the return was $7.20

YAY a nice little profit.

Soccer Qualifier - Australia vs (disrespectful) Uraguay

Well what can I say about this match up today. Austrlaia has big problems scoring. Since they are down 1-0 already in the series it is going to be very hard for them to come back.

Some good things were that Austrlaia at least dominated for a while in the first game, but as we have seen could not score.

Uruagay are not my fav team and their fans should be ashamed of the way they behave. Anyone would think it is some kind of war going on between the 2 countries based on their poor behaviour. At least the Austrlians can be proud of their supporters and the way their management have acted. saying that it was good to see their change of time last match backfired on them and caused them more stress than it did to Australia.

Oh and another thing that was said was that Uraguay have a devine right to be in the playoffs ... what a load a crap. They won 2 world cups ages and ages ago ( before I was born ) and they have done nothing since. They may be ranked 17 in the world but that doesn't give them the right to be there ....

Anyway

My heart says Australia to equalise early in the match (before half time ) and win on a penalty shoot out.

But really everything is in Uruaguys favour. Better Players, aready scored, Good defenders, etc.

For those wanting a bet I am going to throw $5.00 on a 1-0 Australia win and $5.00 on a 0-0 scoreline.

Oh well... Go Aussies.

This is just going to be a random blog and some of my thoughts on Sports shown in Australia.

Just testing for the first post
