Rugby League High Tackles

If anyone has been following the tri-nations for the rugby league then you would surely be following the poor judgement made for the 1 match suspension of Vagana. If you don't follow rugby league or have not heard, a high tackle was made by Vagana which unfortunately caused Britians halfback Paul Deacon to require reconstructive surgery. He was in a life threatening condition at one point. For more on the story read http://foxsports.news.com.au/story/0,8659,17279391-23214,00.html

One match is surely not enough. Careless or not, the other player now can not play for an extended period due to Vagana's reckless tackle. My thoughts are that the person who commits the offence should NOT be allowed to play again until the injured player is available for his team again. This would put a major stop to careless tackles which are high. Vagana misses one match payment which Deacon has no idea when he will be able to play again thus missing countless match payments.

I hope the Judiciary thinks about the suspension they gave considering the uproar and hopefully they will keep this in mind when faced with similar situations.
